This is a quick game I made with a simple concept. You control a spotlight that reveals hidden items, secrets and collectables. The player must utilise this feature to reveal platforms in order to progress throughout the game.

Basic Controls:

A - left, D - right, W/Space - jump

Mouse - control spotlight

This game was made for the Illusion themed 2D Game Jam (August 1st - 6th 2024), enjoy!

The game play is good.

Just there isn't coyote and buffer jum (Adding that can help a lot).

Also the art need to be improved.

You need to make the player know if thats background/forgound art or a platform you can stand on.

You could do like, outline is a platform, no outline is background/forgound.

Or diffrent lighting.

Keep working on you skills, and good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! I hadnt heard of coyote time or jump buffering before but I'll definitely consider adding it. I have been working on a post-Jam version and I've done my best creating new sprites for everything that hopefully look better. I'm not the best with design but when the new version is released, feel free to review it and let me know what I can do. Thanks :)

This video talks about it.

This was quite helpful, I've just uploaded a post-jam version with a ton of changes. Let me know if I did the coyote time and jump buffering correctly. Thanks!

Cool I played it and it fell more great!
It's just the art need's improvent.
What I meant by is the platformers, I am somtimes confused if that is a platform or not.

the game mechanic is good  with the spotlight and the level kinda a simple but really good only problem the lamp feel kinda klanky but solid game

The levels are going to be changed post-Jam because I couldn't do much in the given time. I'm not 100% sure on what you mean by the lamp is clanky, if you mean how it shows the hidden objects too quicky then I'd like to let everyone know that I'm working on a way for it to potentially reveal the hidden objects gradually (as the light passes over them). Thanks for the feedback regardless! :)
